KUALA BESUT: Kuala Besut folk could face trouble if they vote for PAS' candidate, Endut @ Azlan Yusof during the upcoming Kuala Besut by-election.
As a matter of fact, with the outstanding track record of the late state asssemblyman Dr A Rahman Mokhtar, both candidates Endut@ Azlan or more fondly known as Che Long and Barisan Nasional's Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abd Rahman would have big shoes to fill.
They would be required to not only take care of the residents' welfare but also be a role model to the people. This means full commitment from both candidates.
To this, Deputy Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Minister Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman said Che Long would not be able to do so as he would be concentrating on his business activity in Kota Baru, Kelantan.
"The residents' welfare will be ignored because the PAS candidate will certainly be busy attending to his business.
"It will be an unfortunate fate for the voters if he transferred his duty to a representative while he is busy somewhere else," he said at a function organized by the Veterinary Department at Kampung Baru, Kuala Besut yesterday.
Tajuddin was asked to comment on Endut, who was fondly known as 'Che Long', was was said to have wanted to appoint a representative at the constituency and focussed on his contractor business in Kota Baru.
In contrast, Tajuddin said BN candidate, Tengku Zaihan Che Ku Abd Rahman was more sincere to compete and meet the Kuala Besut people's expectations.
"We place a young person, who has some religious background, who is also friendly and likes to smile.
"Between him and the PAS candidate, we know who more sincere and willing to serve and help the people here," said the Pasir Salak MP.
Earlier, Che Long denied he had made such statement as claimed and added that the media has misinterpreted it.
In his defence, Che Long said he was willing to channel his income to help those in need.
"Let us win this, then only we will see.
"The fact is, I will appoint someone to help out with my business while I represent the people here," he said.
Tengku Zaihan will face Che Long in the Kuala Besut by-election scheduled on July 24.
The polls was called after the death of the incumbent Dr A Rahman Mokhtar of BN on June 26.
There are 17,683 voters in Kuala Besut.
