LONDON: Robin van Persie is wearing the No 20 shirt because he aims to deliver Manchester United's 20th title, The Sun reported.
The Holland international striker chose the number after signing his £22 million move from Arsenal.
“I had the option of 20 or 21," he said.
"The reason I took this shirt is because we’re all here to be champions this season and that would mean a 20th league title for Manchester United.
“Last season United missed the title by one minute — but that can make you hungrier for success this time.
“That’s a vital aspect of the game, in my opinion.”
Van Persie will be the seventh Dutch player to play for the club.
And United fans can thank another, goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar, for his role in Van Persie coming to Old Trafford.
“I spoke to Edwin last week and he gave me a really good feeling,” said van Persie.
