Team Europe Lifts Eurasia Cup For Second Time

SHAH ALAM -- Team Europe put on a strong challenge in the final round of the 2018 EurAsia Cup and comfortably outclassed Team Asia at the Glenmarie Golf and Country Club, here today.

The team led by Thomas Bjorn added an eight-and-a-half points from today's singles events for overall points of 14 to win the tournament by four points.

In today's final round, Team Asia managed to add three-and-a-half points for a three-day total of 10 points.

As the winners, Team Europe members will share the prize money of US$3.6 million (RM14.3 million) while runners-up Team Asia led by Arjun Artwal, will share US$1.2 million (about RM4.8   million).

Bjorn received the EurAsia Cup from Prime Minister  Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.

Also present were Professional Golf Malaysia (PGM) chairman Tun Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid and DRB-Hicom Berhad, group managing director Datuk Seri Syed Faisal Albar. 

At the inaugural competition held in 2014, Team Europe and Team Asia ended the match with a 10-10 draw. Team Europe won the biennial tournament for the first time in 2016.
