KOTA BHARU, Nov 10 -- Penang, hit by massive floods since last Saturday, hope to beat Kelantan in the Sultans’ Gold Cup final tomorrow at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium and dedicate the win to those suffering from the aftermath of the floods.

Penang, winners of the cup in 2002, will also be hoping to avenge the 0-4 defeat to Kelantan in the 2008 cup final although with home ground advantage will start as the favourite.

Kelantan, despite having won the cup in 2010, have not made it to the final for the past six years.

Kelantan team manager Nudin Awang said the Kelantan Malays Football Association were eager to win the cup after having failed to make it to the final since 2010.

"The players must give their best tomorrow to beat Penang who will be starting the match with confidence despite playing away from home. We need to respect them (Penang), especially after beating Selangor 1-0 on aggregate in the semifinal,” he said.

Kelantan made it to the final after defeating Kuala Lumpur 2-0 on aggregate.

As for Penang team manager Jamil Md Nor, the match would provide an opportunity to avenge their 0-4 defeat in the 2008 final.

"We want to beat Kelantan but we know it won’t be an easy task because Penang players are mainly from the President’s Cup squad while Kelantan have several Super League players,” he said.
