Fabio_Capello2LONDON: Fabio Capello (pic) is happy to hear John Terry had been cleared of racially abusing Anton Ferdinand.

The former England manager now feels vindicated over his ‘innocent until proven guilty’ stand against the England FA, which ultimately cost him his £6million-a-year job last February.

Capello’s son, Pierfilippo, told The Sun: “We have just seen the news online and we are very happy.  My personal view, as a lawyer, is that the final answer to this matter came from where it was always supposed to come.”

Terry’s acquittal at Westminster Magistrates Court yesterday is certainly a huge embarrassment for the FA.

Their swift reaction to him being charged effectively robbed England of a manager and a captain.

Yet the Chelsea skipper’s innocence has now been upheld, so stripping him of the armband is being viewed as an unjust over-reaction.

Capello resigned five months ago in protest at the FA sacking Terry as England captain when the ‘racial abuse’ charge was first leveled against the Chelsea star.

He immediately went on Italian TV to say he ‘absolutely’ disagreed with the decision.

And Capello refused to back down when hauled to Wembley by FA chairman David Bernstein to explain his comments.

The 66-year-old later said of the FA: “They gravely offended me and damaged my authority.”The FA, though, are still insisting the matter is not closed.

They are to reopen their own inquiry into the unsavoury incident, captured in graphic detail by TV cameras, which was put on hold while the police pursued a criminal charge.
