LONDON: Tottenham rightback Kyle Walker is confident that the club's players will give new boss Andre Villas-Boas the chance to succeed at White Hart Lane.
Villas-Boas was signed as the new Spurs manager on July 3, following a tumultuous nine-mouth spell in charge of London rivals Chelsea last season which concluded with his sacking on March 4. His time at Chelsea was dogged by rumors of disputes with the club’s senior players, but Walker is confident he will have no such problems at White Hart Lane as there are “no egos” - instead insisting he hopes the manager and squad can form a bond that breeds success. “We're a totally different team to Chelsea and you don't judge someone by previous things that have happened," Kyle told The Guardian. .“We need to take him in. It's a good bunch of lads here. There's no egos, nobody who is going to disturb the camp. He's going to give us a chance; we're going to give him a chance. Hopefully we'll gel and win trophies." The 22-year-old Walker enjoyed a very successful campaign last season, cementing his place in the Spurs first team before securing his first England cap and winning the PFA young player of the year award. And the former Sheffield United defender is relishing the prospect of experiencing Villas-Boas’ fresh ideas. “As an attacking full-back, I'm excited to work with him. He's going to give another dimension to my game. We've seen in training that you have to be on it 24:7. That's what the team need to go further," said Walker.
“If he does play 4-3-3, it will benefit me, showing what I can do further up the field and letting the winger worry about me.”
