KUALA LUMPUR: On-form striker Rozaimi Abdul Rahman turned hero for Malaysia as he struck a hattrick when they beat Vietnam 3-0 win in their fourth match of the AFC Cup Under-22 qualifiers at Aung San Stadium in Myanmar today. The win put Malaysia in second spot in group G with nine points, one point behind Myanmar while South Korea are in third spot.
This was Malaysia's third win on the trot after whipping Philippines 7-0 last week and beating Taiwan 4-2 on Thursday. The Malaysians lost 3-2 to South Korea in their first match.
Vietnam dominated from the start today mounting several raids but found the Malaysian defence difficult to breach.
Malaysia broke the deadlock when Rozaimi opened his scoring in the 52nd minute. He was in his element and scored two more goals in stoppage time.
The Malaysians will clash with hosts Myanmar on Tuesday. The top two teams will qualify for the finals next year.
