LONDON: A desperate England fan tried to nobble the star who scored Italy's winning penalty  in the against the Three Lions in the quarter-final on Sunday by flashing, reported The Sn.

The mystery supporter, standing behind Joe Hart’s goal, dropped his pants as Alessandro Diamanti stepped up to take the final shoot-out spot kick.

But the unruffled Diamanti calmly stroked the ball past Hart to send England out of Euro 2012 as the Italians won 4-2.

Sharp-eyed TV viewers spotted the bit of last gasp gamesmanship by the unidentified fan, who was wearing an England goalie’s top and a red and white wig. And yesterday photos of the climatic kick clearly show him with shorts and pants down round his knees.

A pal beside him looks on the verge of doing the same — but has obviously made his move too late.

The disappointed England players flew home yesterday — with coach Roy Hodgson promising to now build a brilliant squad by following Germany’s blueprint.
