Kedah Records Decline In Dengue Cases

ALOR SETAR -- Dengue cases in Kedah declined by 8.1 per cent, with 578 cases recorded from January until yesterday compared to 629 cases in the corresponding period last year.

Kedah Health Department director Datuk Dr Norhizan Ismail in a statement today said four districts recorded a decline in cases, namely Kuala Muda with 146 cases from 261, Kulim (87 cases from 157), Baling (49 cases from 63) and Bandar Baharu (five cases from 11).

He said despite the decline, seven districts recorded an increase in dengue cases namely Pendang with 46 cases from seven cases, Kota Setar (69 cases from 31) Langkawi (58 cases from 21), Padang Terap (30 cases from 11), Sik (36 cases from 23), Yan (nine cases from four) and Kubang Pasu (43 cases from 40).

Dr Norhizan added that two dengue-related deaths were recorded in Kubang Pasu and Kota Setar.
