Three Trainees Escape From Kampung Selamat CCRC

GEORGE TOWN -- The police have lunched a hunt for three trainees who escaped from the Kampung Selamat Cure and Care Rehabilitation Centre (CCRC) in Tasek Gelugor near here this morning.

Zainuddin Yusof, 35, Zulzailatiman Zakaria, 37, and Johari Ahmad, 52, escaped by climbing a 10ft fence near the centre’s hall.

Seberang Perai Utara police chief ACP Noorzainy Mohd Noor said their absence was only realised by the warden at 6.30 am.

He said the men were clad in red T-shirt with 'CCRC Kg Selamat' written on the back and dark blue pants.

Meanwhile, Seberang Perai Tengah police chief  ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said the police had detained two men, aged 17 and 24, in connection with armed robberies during a raid at a house in Taman Pinggiran Alma, Bukit Mertajam near here yesterday.

He said with the arrest of the duo, the police had solved at least 20 armed robbery cases including the latest involving a reporter of a Chinese language newspaper.
