Two Men Detained By Sabah MACC Over Alleged Bribery

KOTA KINABALU -- Two men were remanded for five days by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to facilitate investigations into an alleged corruption case.

They were a 54-year-old civil servant attached to a department in Beaufort and a 46-year-old self-employed civilian.

The civil servant was picked up about 10.30pm at the Kota Kinabalu MACC office yesterday while the other was nabbed at a restaurant in Beaufort, about two hours earlier.

The duo had allegedly demanded RM35,000 from the complainant as an inducement purportedly to release a land grant belonging to the complainant's late father from being withheld at the Beaufort Land and Survey office.

Magistrate Afiq Agues issued a remand order against the suspects following an application made by MACC prosecution officer Faliq Basirudin.
