Ahmad Bashah Urged To Reject Calls To Step Down As KFA President

JITRA, 10 Nov – Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah who is also the president of the Kedah Football Association (KFA) has been urged to ignore calls from certain groups to step down as the president.

Kedah Youth team manager Haris Che Mat said the loss to Johor Darul Ta’zim (JDT) in the Malaysia Cup final recently was regarded as a big failure by some but the contributions and numerous success achieved by the Kedah team under the Menteri Besar’s leadership since taking over the post in Feb 2016, should not be ignored.

“The KFA president has proven his ability to lead the association, especially winning the Malaysia Cup in 2016, Charity Shield, FA Cup and making the Malaysia Cup final in 2017. The youth team has also won a title and all that is due to the sacrifice and contribution of the KFA management.

“The KFA management has always been concerned with the welfare of the players,” he told reporters at the Kedah Under-19 players selection programme at the Jitra Stadium, here today.

The two-day programme held to unearth talented and potential players, was attended by more than 500 aspiring players who were hoping to make it to the Under-19 squad next season.

Haris also urged everyone to not turn football into a political game because football will be at the losing end.

The Kedah UMNO Youth had recently called on the Menteri Besar to step down as the KFA president after Ahmad Bashah was “booed” by a section of the Kedah supporters who were disappointed after the 0-2 loss to JDT.
