SANDAKAN, Nov 9 - The Sandakan Municipal Council (MPS) employees were reminded of their responsibility to carry out their duties with trustworthiness, honesty and self-discipline.

Its president Datuk James Wong said they had to ensure that the tasks would be carried out efficiently and safely in order to avoid any misappropriation and abuse of power.

“The task of improving the integrity and efficiency of government governance is our collective responsibility.

“Therefore, all should work together to strengthen the values of integrity, which is the core of an excellent organisation,” he said at the signing ceremony of the Corruption-Free Pledge (IBR) here today.

Wong led 700 MPS personnel in signing the IBR pledge, witnessed by Sandakan branch of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Senior Assistant Commissioner Suhaimi Manaf.

Wong added that MPS employees were encouraged to register as the MACC Anti-Corruption Revolution Movement (GERAH) to contribute energy, ideas and spread anti-corruption messages to the community.
