KUANTAN, 29 FEBRUARY, 2012: Police will not investigate allegations that Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Supreme Council member Dr Badrulamin Bahron was assaulted by 20 people when he was arrested for 'khalwat' (close proximity) last week.
Pahang Police Chief Datuk Sharifuddin Ab Ghani said investigations would only be conducted if the complainant lodges a police report.
"However, if he does not file a report, then it's up to him," he said when contacted here today.
Yesterday, Kuantan Police Chief ACP Mohd Jasmani Yusoff said police had received a report from the Pahang Islamic Religious Department (Jaip) on the khalwat case at the Beserah Police Station, here, on Feb 25 at 10.28am.
Meanwhile, the management of the hotel raided by Jaip during the incident is ready to cooperate with authorities in their investigation into the case.
A hotel spokesperson said there would be no problem obtaining close-circuit television (CCTV) recordings.
"The CCTV recordings can be given but through a proper procedure set by the hotel."
Badrulamin has claimed that he was assaulted by a group of 20 men when they raided his room last Saturday morning.
