KUALA LUMPUR, 15 JANUARY, 2012: Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin said today more Chinese have switched their support for the Barisan Nasional (BN), particularly in the Lembah Pantai parliamentary constituency.

He said a major pull factor is the BN political struggle which does not exert pressure or belittle any individual.

"We emphasize the 1Malaysia spirit, the spirit of goodness and the spirit of solidarity in the political struggle.

We have adopted such an approach in the past and this will bring us success in the future," he told reporters after handing over Chinese New Year goodies to old folks in Taman Seri Sentosa, here.

Raja Nong Chik said it was most important that the Chinese community has begun to realize the sincerity of the BN and it was hoped that they would continue to support the coalition.

The Lembah Pantai BN chairman said the opposition party leaders in the area only knew how to criticize and tarnish the image of the government and did nothing for the constituents whom they represented.

"For example, when we obtained an allocation to paint the Taman Seri Sentosa Flats and build a Terminal Sejahtera revision center for pupils and students, they claimed that this was due to their insistence.

At the event, 400 elderly as well as physically challenged people in the constituency received hampers and "ang pow" (cash packets).

Also present were Lembah Pantai MCA chairman Datuk Dr Lim Chee Shin, Lembah Pantai MIC chairman Datuk Narayanan T. Ratnam and Lembah Pantai Gerakan chairman Datuk K. Sabaratnam.
