Police Report To Be Lodge Againts Abattoir PDF Print

PUTRAJAYA, 19 MARCH 2010:  The Domestic Trade, Cooperative and
Consumerism Ministry will take legal action against an abattoir in Rembau for
locking in enforcement officers from the ministry and the Islamic Development
Department (Jakim) recently.

altIts minister, Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob (pic) said Global Abattoir (M) Sdn
Bhd had allegedly committed two criminal acts -- locking in Jakim enforcement
officers and preventing them for carrying out their duty.

"I want the enforcement officers involved to lodge a police report against
the abattoir. We cannot tolerate this kind of act," he told reporters here
today.

He was commenting on Jakim director-general Datuk Wan Muhammad Sheikh Abdul
Aziz's statement that Jakim would leave the matter with the ministry to deal
with the abattoir.

In the incident, officers from the ministry and Jakim as well media
representatives, were locked in for three hours at the premises as the abattoir
operator was annoyed with photographers who were taking pictures of the
operation.

The operator demanded that the images be erased if they wanted to be
released.

The operation was carried out following complaints that the abattoir did not
carry out a proper way of slaughtering chickens.
