| Nik Aziz Slams Politicians Who Defame Others After Quitting Parties |

KOTA BAHARU, 19 MARCH, 2010: PAS spiritual leader Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat (pic) has slammed politicians who resort to disparaging other leaders or party chiefs in public after quitting their parties.
The Kelantan menteri besar described such act as uncivilised and exposing one's own weakness.
Speaking to reporters after delivering his ceramah at Dataran Ilmu here, Nik Abdul Aziz said the society would be watching closely the conduct of such politicians.
Non-Muslims would now see how Malay politicians were squabbling with one another, he said.
He added that politicians should emulate the political style of MCA leaders who used party elections to choose their preferred leaders. Nik Abdul Aziz was asked to comment on the move by Bayan Baru member of parliament Datuk Seri Zahrain Mohamed Hashim to expose the names of eight MPs asked to cross over to Pakatan in 2008 as part of the opposition pact's plan to take over the federal government on Sept 16 the same year.
He said it was not proper for a leader to undermine other leaders by exposing their weaknesses in public.
"This is not right and there is still opportunity for that person to repent," he said. |
