Opposition Members Walk Out of Parliament | Print |

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 MAR, 2010: Opposition party backbenchers has walked out from Parliament during today's proceedings in protest over Dewan Rakyat Speaker Pandikar Amin Mulia's refusal  to allow them to debate a motion tabled by the Home Affairs Minister ordering the Inspector-General of Police to protect the House from obstructions.

The Pakatan Rakyat members were told by Pandikar that the motion was tabled by convention at the opening session of every Parliament sitting and debating it was not a common practice.

DAP leader Lim Kit Siang argued that he had debated a similar motion back in the 1970s.
