KUALA LUMPUR, 9 MARCH, 2010: The Government has identified the Information and Communication technology as one of the main mechanism in advancing national economy.
Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Seri Dr Maximus Ongkili said ICT is capable of moving the national economic value chain from that of a middle-income to a high income economy.
“ICT will help in economic progress as it gave everyone an equal opportunity to participate,” he said in his speech during the 1nita Project launching ceremony at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, here today.

Organized by .my Domain Registry, the 1nita Project is an innovating approach to help women entrepreneurs to do business through the internet which will make their products and services available to the larger global market.
"The project funded under the second stimulus package aims to develop talent in ICT entrepreneurship, especially among women in small and medium enterprises (SME)," he added.
.my Domain Registry chairman Datuk Noraini Ahmad said the participant of 1nita Project will be trained to develop an online business, network and create an e-marketplace which offers extensive e-commerce opportunities
“Women entrepreneurs were becoming more important to the country's economy and development,” she said in her speech.
“Statistics in 2005 shows women owned 82,911 or 16 percent of the total number of SMEs and I am confident the number will increase,” she added.
The 1nita Project, which started in the Klang Valley, will be extended to Melaka, Sabah, Sarawak and Kedah by year-end.
