The police has barred a close friend of Datuk Seri Najib Razak from visiting him at his residence, a directive considered to be unreasonable and against the principle of democracy.

Abdul Rahim Abdul Rahman, 65, said that he was disappointed for not being able to offer moral support to Najib when he is faced with various allegations from certain quarters.

“I do not agree with this directive (the police not allowing friends to visit Najib).

“I also do not know Najib’s status right now whether he is on house arrest or otherwise.

“A few of my friends and I are supposed to meet with Najib at 12pm today.

“Although we are not allowed to meet Najib, we will continue to wait (until we are allowed to meet him),” he said when interviewed at Najib’s residence on Jalan Langgak Duta, Taman Duta, Harian Metro reports.

Abdul Rahim last saw Najib during the Friday prayer last week at a mosque in Kuala Lumpur.

He said that Najib had looked calm and was not affected by any allegations thrown to him.

Local media reports that the former prime minister had received other visitors whom the police allowed in including among other's Najib's son as well as UMNO supreme council member Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz, although he later said he was not in one of the cars seen entering the Taman Duta residence.
