Malaysia To Continue To Share Success With Its People, Says Najib

PEKAN: Malaysia will continue to share its success and wealth with the people, and not its hardship or poverty, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

He said the country's ability to manage its economy well has allowed Malaysia to increase its wealth and share it with the rakyat through various forms of assistance which is distributed to various segments of society.

Najib, who is also the Pekan member of parliament, said the country posted a 5.9 percent economic growth in 2017, which is among the highest in the world.

"If people continue to claim that Malaysia is about to go bankrupt and needs to be rescued, it is a lie merely to dupe the people. International rating agencies and organisations such as the IMF (International Monetary Fund), World Economic Forum and Bloomberg have acknowledged that the country's economy is on the right path.

"While this does not mean that Malaysia does not have poor people, it means that if we have promising revenue from our growing economy then we are able to share it with the people. In Malaysia, we not only share wealth equally but also political power, best exemplified by Barisan Nasional,” he said.

Najib was speaking at the Chinese New Year ‘Kongsi Kasih’ programme held at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Convention Hall today.

Najib, who was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, later presented goodies to the less fortunate community from the parliamentary constituency.

Also present were Bebar assemblyman Datuk Mohammad Fakhruddin Mohd Ariff, Peramu Jaya assemblyman Datuk Seri Mohmed Puzi Sh Ali, and Chini assemblyman Datuk Abu Bakar Harun, among others.
