Nationwide Mega Gotong Royong Programme To Combat Aedes On Dec 2

KUALA LUMPUR -- An Integrated Mega Gotong Royong Programme to Combat Aedes Series 2 involving various departments, agencies and local communities, will be held nationwide simultaneously on Dec 2.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said at national-level, the programme will be held in Kampung Baru Jementah, Segamat, Johor, scheduled to be launched by Health Minister Datuk Seri Dr S. Subramaniam.

“The health ministry calls on all Malaysians to work together to ensure success of the programme in their respective areas, including by cleaning the indoor and outdoor areas of their houses, empty land or lots, waste dumps and destroying Aedes breeding grounds,” he said in a statement here, today.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said for the period between Nov 12 and 18, the number of dengue cases reported was 993, the lowest total recorded since 2014.

The cumulative number of dengue cases recorded for the year up to Nov 18, 2017, was 78,062 with 163 deaths, also a decline from the same period last year, which had 93,080 cases with 214 deaths, he added.
