Another Suspect In Molotov Cocktail Attack On Surau Remanded

PETALING JAYA -- One more suspect in the Molotov cocktail attack on a surau in Damandara Damai here last Sunday, has been remanded for six days from today to assist investigations.

The remand order was issued by Petaling Jaya Magistrate's Court assistant registrar Mazrah Mohamed, following an application from the police to detain the 40-year-old suspect.

Petaling Jaya district police chief ACP Mohd Zani Che Din said the suspect, an insurance agent, was picked up at a restaurant here at 7pm yesterday.

The suspect is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code, he said here.

Yesterday, two other suspects in the case were remanded for a week.

In the 6.15am incident, the congregation of Surau Al-Huda were performing the ‘Subuh’ (morning) prayers when a petrol bomb was thrown into the surau by two men on a motorcycle.

Fortunately, the petrol bomb did not explode.
