KUALA LUMPUR: Always known as Malaysia’s Father of Modernisation, Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad celebrates his 89th birthday today.
The Kedah born lad, known to his friends and family as Che Det, was Malaysia’s fourth Prime Minister from 1981 to 2003.
Born on July 10th, 1925, Tun Mahathir is the longest serving Prime Minister with his political career spanning almost 40 years in Malaysia – and not without some milestones, achievements and of course, as it happens to any politicians, minor trifle stumbling over the block.
During his tenure as the Prime Minister, Mahathir had a made a significant impact on the economy, culture and the government of Malaysia before his retirement in 2003.
Millions of his followers took the opportunity to wish him on popular social networking website like Twitter (always on the forefront when it comes to technology, not to mention his highly influential blog site) to show their love and support as one of Malaysia’s influential man in the nation.
