Fire Dept Helicopter Crew Perform Mercy Flight For Injured Orang Asli Man

GUA MUSANG: Fire and Rescue Department personnel braved stormy weather to conduct a mercy flight for an injured Orang Asli man in Pos Balar, here yesterday.

The department’s air unit, which operates out of Subang, arrived in Gua Musang yesterday to ferry the man, Angah Along, 27, from the remote village of Pos Balar.

The man had been suffering critical swelling on his shoulder and needed immediate medical assistance. The man had been in pain for three days.

All efforts to send the man to the Gua Musang Hospital had proved futile as the land route had been cut off due to floods.

The department’s public relations officer Mohd Farhan Marzuki said the Agusta AW 139 helicopter departed from Subang about noon yesterday.

“Upon arrival at Gua Musang, we tried to land the helicopter but failed due to bad weather.

“The aircrew were successful in the third attempt. They brought the man onboard at 3pm and flew him directly to the Gombak Hospital,” he said.
