Do Not Trespass TNB Installation Areas

KUALA LUMPUR -- The public has been advised to stay away from Tenaga NasionalBerhad (TNB) installation areas, including transmission towers and substations, to avoid the risk of electricity mishaps.

TNB vice president (grid) Datuk Ho Peng Choong said the risk of electrical shock and arc emission, or also known as flashover, could result in serious injuries or loss of lives.

“It can also damage property and disrupt the supply of electricity,” he said in a statement today.

The warning was issued following an incident where a man had reportedly climbed a TNB transmission tower in Bangsar several days ago and took a selfie of his feat to celebrate his birthday.

He also advised the public to not bring long equipment such as poles under transmission areas or fish at ponds or lakes located near electricity transmission areas or high voltage areas.
