The English dailies today reported on Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim receiving a royal pardon from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Muhammad V, on grounds there had been miscarriage of justice which subsequently signalled a new dawn for Malaysia.

A Grand Welcome BackThe Star frontpaged that the loud monotone notes of vuvuzelas and cries of ‘Reformasi’ filled the air as a massive crowd turned up for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s first speech as a free man after obtaining a full royal pardon.

Freedom – Although he notes his freedom as the beginning of a new chapter for change, New Straits Times reported that the PKR leader says he is in no rush to return to cabinet, let alone set a time-frame for the handing over of power as he would like to take some time to spend with his family.

Anwar Backs Dr M – Be that as it may, Anwar had pledged to support top-to-bottom reform of the country, as Malay Mail reported that he will support the government led by Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and serve as voice of the people.

Sifar GST (Zero-Rated GST) – In regards to the GST, Utusan Malaysia highlighted that the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has issued a directive that GST will be zero-rated effective on 1 June.

Kutipan GST Dihenti 1 Jun 2018 (GST Will Be Zero-Rated Effective 1 June 2018) Kosmo! also frontpaged the news about GST to be zero-rated effective 1 June 2018, which will see GST collections halted effective from next month.
