Just as the movie about his rise to stardom is about to debut worldwide, another film which claims to 'star' the badminton champion has started making the rounds online.

The footage which shows a man and a woman having sex has triggered speculation over who is the man in the video and Datuk Lee Chong Wei's name has come up in social media chats on the viral video.

But the World No 2 has taken the scandal in his stride and with a good dose of humour.

In an interview with Sin Chew Daily, he even jokingly voluntered to forward the clip he received to the reporter.

"You want me to forward it to you?

"So many people have sent the video to me," he replied with laughter.

However, he had a brief answer to all the rumours.

“It is not me.

"The person doesn't even look like me.

"How did this happen?" he wondered with bemusement before brushing off the allegation, saying that there are all sorts of ridiculous claims out there that he just can't be bothered with them anymore.

Although Chong Wei received the video on Monday, he had initially thought nothing of it but the rumour appears to be gaining traction to the point that he now thinks he needs to make an official complaint.

“So many people have been calling to confirm if it was me, and I had to laugh it off. Initially I had no plans of acting on it, because really it’s just a waste of time.

“However, it is getting out of hand, and I will be lodging a police report at (Federal police headquarters in) Bukit Aman today,” he told NST.

The Olympic silver medallist is married to Datin Wong Mew Choo and they have two children together.

Incidentally, the biopic Lee Chong Wei: Rise of the Legend will premiere on 9 March in front of an expected 30,000 strong crowd at Bukit Jalil Stadium on a giant LED sceen measuring 40 metre x 17 metre.
