Petronas Signs EPCC Contract For Fuel Processing Units

KUALA LUMPUR -- Petroliam Nasional Bhd's (Petronas) unit, PRPC Refinery & Cracker Sdn Bhd has signed an Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning (EPCC) contract with CTCI Corporation and MIE Industrial Sdn Bhd.

In a statement, Petronas said the contract was for the second-phase development of fuel quality upgrading processing units at the Pengerang Integrated Complex (PIC).

Under the contract, CTCI Corporation and MIE Industrial would carry out the EPCC of the Cracked Naphta Hydrotreating Unit, Isomerisation Unit,Tertiary-Armyl-Methyl-Ether Etherification Unit, four spherical tanks, one Internal Floating Roof tank, including other related works, for the production of Euro5 fuel at the PIC.

It said the project development would take 23.5 months and the facilities were expected to be ready for start-up in the third quarter of 2019.

Petronas Senior Vice-President and Petronas Refinery and Petrochemical Corporation Sdn Bhd Chief Executive Officer Dr Colin Wong Hee Huing said t​​​​he Euro5 emission standard imposes strict caps on pollutant emissions for motor vehicles.

“This results in improved air quality and general well-being of the society at large. Petronas is the first oil and gas company in Malaysia to produce Euro5-compliant Petrol, reflecting our commitment in support of a greener Malaysia,” he added.
